Capptivo is a desktop studio for people who ship products and need their demos to feel intentional. Record once, then shape motion, framing, and polish in an editor built for clarity — not timelines that fight you.

it is a free, local-first desktop app for turning screen recordings into polished product demos. Built with Tauri (Rust + React) as an open-source alternative to tools like Screen Studio, no account, no cloud, no monthly fee.

Capture runs on native OS pipelines (ScreenCaptureKit, Windows.Graphics.Capture, PipeWire) with hardware H.264 encoding. The editor adds motion, look, captions, and export in one place. Key features include:

  • Recording: Display, window, or area capture; face-cam; mic + system audio; live annotations; pause/resume; menubar + global hotkey.
  • Smart zoom: Follow-cursor and fixed-region zoom fragments with ease in/out, scene or video scope, and automatic motion between clips.
  • Cursor polish: Composited cursor styles, size, motion blur, click bounce, and sway.
  • Look & composition: Backgrounds (presets, gradients, uploads), padding, corner radius, shadow, blur, crop, and face-cam PiP.
  • Captions: On-device speech-to-text via Whisper (whisper.cpp) — generate, style, and burn in with no cloud.
  • Export: MP4, WebM, and GIF at selectable resolution and frame rate, with optional voice enhancement.
  • Local-first: Projects stay on disk; English/French UI; AGPL-3.0-or-later.
